Full Review of the Panasonic ES-RT51

The midrange model in Panasonic’s RT range, the Panasonic ES-RT51 has been souped up ever so slightly, and given a little bit of a facelift. As with this whole range, the Panasonic ES-RT51 is capable of shaving in either wet or dry conditions and also comes with plenty of Panasonic’s high-tech features to provide a good quality shave.

The Sleek Red Version

The Panasonic ES-RT51 still has the ergonomically designed handle of its predecessor the RT31 but, in my opinion at least, has been given a swankier looking facade with a generally black and silver look, with a dash of red over the power switch, and a better LCD display. The LCD display still only provides basic information about how much charge is left in the battery; however, the Panasonic ES-RT51 actually lets you know as a percentage how much is left. The pop-up sideburn trimmer on the back of the shaver is the same as all three shavers in this range, and indeed, pretty much the same as any other electric razor nowadays.

Panasonic ES-RT51 – A Combination of Blade Technologies

3 Key technologies go into making the shave head of the Panasonic ES-RT51 a very comprehensive piece of kit. Panasonic’s blades are Nano sharpened so as to be thinner and sharper than any recent Braun of Philips shaver. These three blades are mounted on a floating blade system which allows them to each move individually in order to follow the contours of your face when shaving. The blades of the Panasonic ES-RT51 are also fixed at a 30 degree cutting angle which Panasonic believe is the optimum angle for shaving. These are three very well developed technologies, and the Panasonic ES-RT51 is a better shaver because of them.

The Panasonic ES-RT51 Gives a Good Wet Shave

Panasonic seem to be making all their new shavers with wet or dry shaving options, and so it is with the Panasonic ES-RT51. This means, of course, that it is a completely waterproof electric shaver which can even be taken it into the shower with you to save time in the morning. For men who have the additional time in the morning for a proper wet shave, many will prefer this option as it can be kinder to the skin with the gel or foam helping to keep the skin moisturised. The wet shave option of the Panasonic ES-RT51 works very well, which cannot be said for all shavers. Of course, the dry shave option also works very nicely, leaving a smooth finish, and not causing too much irritation. Giving the battery a full charge on its stand (included) will take 60 minutes, and will give 45 minutes of shaving. There is also the option of a quick charge which will take five minutes for enough battery to do the job once.

The bottom line with the Panasonic ES-RT51 is that it is a very modestly priced electric shaver, from a good manufacturer, and does the job it is designed to do very well indeed. Supported by Panasonic’s most important technologies, the Panasonic ES-RT51 is reliable and affordable.
