The Panasonic ES-LA63 is one of the most expensive, top of the range shavers available on the market today. As you’d expect from a high cost, high tech shaver, the Panasonic ES-LA63 has been designed for a precise, comfortable shave with maximum flexibility thanks to its multi-dimensional pivoting shave head. This shaver is totally waterproof and can be used as a wet or dry shaver with equally good results.

Panasonic ES-LA63: Space Age Looks

The Panasonic ES-LA63 has an almost space age, futuristic looking appearance, with a large shave head attached to the body via a narrow neck which allows a great degree of movement, as we’ll see later. The LCD panel on the handle to provides plenty of details regarding of battery life, cleaning status and foil change etc. While two chrome looking buttons sit in the middle of the handle above to change the settings. The handle is a very nice sleek shape and is comfortable to hold, also the Panasonic ES-LA63 is well balanced and not top-heavy as you may expect.

The functionality of the Panasonic ES-LA63 is all about the amount of movement possible because of its multi-pivoting head. This shave head pivots in basically any direction it needs to in order to ride smoothly over your face; up and down, left and right, and forward and backward movement create a comfortable, flexible shaving motion. The way the head of the Panasonic ES-LA63 moves as it is in contact with your face is fantastic and this is clearly well developed and highly refined technology.

The Panasonic ES-LA63 uses four specifically angled stainless steel blades to produce a clean and close shave. These blades are angled at 30 degrees, and have been sharpened with Nano technology to be sharper than any Braun or Philips shavers up to July 2009 at least. The Panasonic ES-LA63 has a vibrating head designed to raise any flat lying hairs which may be escaping capture.

Another effective feature of the Panasonic ES-LA63 is the linear motor drive contained within the head. This linear motor operates at up to 14,000rpm but also has an automatic speed control which will adjust the speed of the side to side movement to match the resistance it is up against. So, if you’re stubble is heavy and thick, the motor will slow down a little to deal with the extra load. This feature also serves to reduce the tugging sensation that comes with some less developed shavers.

Value for Money?

The Panasonic ES-LA63 is certainly one of the priciest shavers on the market today, especially seeing as it does not have a cleaning/charging dock as standard. On the other hand, it is also one of the very best available at the moment. The Panasonic ES-LA63 is also a very quick razor to use; a comprehensive shave may only take half the time of a less effective shaver but will still be close and comfortable. The Panasonic ES-LA63 is an excellent package of style, comfort and quality of shave.
