The Braun Series-1 199 Electric Shaver is the top model in the Braun Series 1 electric shaver range.
In comparison to the other Series 1 electric shavers the Braun 199 has a smart foil which is designed to capture hairs growing from different directions for a close shave in fewer strokes.
The shave quality is slightly better than the other shavers in the series 1 range. It’s not as close as a wet shave or some higher end models but it is fairly efficient and will be adequate for most people. This is partly down to the fact that the Braun Series-1 199 electric shaver has a 3 stage cutting system which is designed to achieve a closer shave. It certainly shaves faster than the other series 1 shavers.
The build quality matches Braun’s good reputation and it feels both solid while being pretty compact and light. It lies comfortably in the hand and has rubber grip which helps to keep the shaver in place even if you have wet hands.
The shave time with the Braun Series-1 199 electric shaver isn’t going to blow you away; it features about 30 minutes of shaving activity which is just enough to keep you stubble free for about a week. This is fine for short trips on holiday or business travel but is only about half of what other higher range shavers offer.
The Braun Series 1 199 electric shaver has a pop up trimmer which is great for styling beards and sideburns.
A useful feature of the Braun Series-1 199 electric shaver is that it comes with a travel case which while not being the best looking and sturdiest on the market still does a decent enough job of protecting your shaver while travelling.
As with all other Series 1 shavers the Braun 199 is easily washable under running water which really helps when coming to cleaning it. It is delivered with a small bottle of oil which is great for recoating the blades after rinsing them and will really help prolong the life of your shaver.
Overall as the best of Braun’s entry level shavers the Braun Series 1 199 electric shaver is a good value shaver that delivers a decent enough shave for the price while offering a quick charge option and a travel case.

I like it, the girlfriend is getting me one for my birthday!
Not only does this electric shaver give you a smooth shave, the battery last a long time. I pick up one when Braun had a $10 mail in rebate and am really please with its performance.
